Where It Begins

I have spent a lot of time studying, researching, and thinking about leadership.

The bulk of this collected information and knowledge came from my college degree. I minored in Leadership Studies. It allowed me to wrap my hands around theories and practices, and what that looks like in organizations and businesses. I have an observant eye on these things. It has made me sharper in noticing people’s tendencies. When a political leader, business mogul, entrepreneur, or manager is speaking or I get to see how they operate in their space. I can usually identify, define, and evaluate their leadership style.

This eye is important. You don’t need a degree to get this sort of vision. But my route led me to this point and I’m better for it.

What is the point?

What we have traditionally define as leadership in society comes up short in the long run.

Why?

The missing piece is that some people think leadership ends when you clock out, leave the office, or turn off the computer. A common misconception about leadership is that if you can differentiate leaders and managers, then take those practices to your job you have figured it out.
